San Benito County adventurer Jim Ostdick reported that on April 8 he was 620 miles into his cross-country walking trek, nearing the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. His journey, which started on the Delaware coast and will culminate in San Benito County, is designed to build the R.E.A.C.H. endowment funds through the Community Foundation for San Benito County and raise awareness about the value of parks and trails.

"This week has seen February-like late winter weather conditions in this region, very cold for camping and very wet for walking," Ostdick wrote in an email to BenitoLink. "I've been scurrying from one small-town coffee shop to another, trying to stay warm and relatively dry. I haven't taken as many photos lately due to the rain. The people of Athens and Coolville and Chillicothe and Hillsboro have been very supportive of our cause. It won't be long until I cross over into Indiana. Hopefully, I will hit some warmer weather in the Hoosier state."
