What is “smart growth” and how do you accomplish it?

BenitoLink wants to know how you define "smart growth," and how you would accomplish and pay for it.

“Smart growth” is a term that is being quoted by politicians, the business community and the public almost daily. The definition of "smart growth" can change from one politician to another.

In any case, growth and roads are two edges of the same sword that hangs over the community, and residents are often quick to voice their opinions about either subject on Facebook. BenitoLink would like to invite community members to respond and share your thoughts on these two important topics.

How would you define smart growth and how would you finance the infrastructure improvements like transportation, water and schools that need to improve with it?

If you were a city council member or supervisor, how would you handle the challenge of state's expectations of growth but protect the qualities we love about our community?

We are interested in hearing your ideas and incorporating them in an upcoming story on this topic. Please use the comment section below this article or comment on our BenitoLink Facebook page.

Thank you for your interest and your contribution to a BenitoLink Community Conversation.
