The Ventana Wildlife Society, along with funding by the Monterey County Fish and Game Advisory Commission and Cabela’s, announced the opening of a free non-lead ammunition drawing for big-game hunters living in San Benito and Monterey counties. The organization will select 200 qualified entries to receive one free box of non-lead ammunition.

To enter, read the following rules and complete the online form here.

1. You must be at least 18 years of age and ordering for yourself. All orders are subject to a third-party age verification check.
2. You must provide the mailing address of your residence. Products cannot be shipped to post office boxes.
3. We can select only one entry per household.
4. Items cannot be returned.
5. All orders are subject to product availability. If your selected product is out of stock, you will be placed on backorder (which can result in a lengthy delay) or asked to select another product. Unfortunately, because of limited availability for many products, we cannot guarantee that you will receive the product of your choice.

The wildlife society said that through the ammunition giveaway program, “we celebrate the long-standing tradition of wildlife conservation in the hunting and ranching community. We support hunting (and some of our staff are hunters) but recognize that the number one problem facing condors in the wild is the ingestion of lead from spent ammunition in the carcasses they scavenge. With this program, we want to help you make a lasting switch to non-lead ammunition and reduce lead exposure for condors, eagles, and other wildlife.”
