The federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) offers a comprehensive range of workforce development activities through statewide and local organizations. Available workforce development activities provided in local communities can benefit job seekers, laid-off workers, youth, incumbent workers, new entrants to the workforce, veterans, persons with disabilities, and employers. The WIB, in conjunction with the San Benito County Board of Supervisors, approves plans and plan modification for funding, oversees all program activity, advises staff on how the funds received should be spent, and many other activities associated with WIA funding pertaining to San Benito County.
The full WIB meets quarterly (July, October, January, and April). The WIB Executive Committee meets throughout the alternative months (August, September, November, December, February, March, May, and June) to act on behalf of the full WIB. All meetings take place during the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 3:00 p.m. in the Community Services & Workforce Development Department, 1111 San Felipe Road, Suite 108, Hollister, CA 95023. All meetings are open to the public.
If you are interested in WIB membership and want to know more, please visit our website at www.sbcjobs.org and complete a membership application form and return it to the CSWD Office. Once the WIB approves membership, the application is then forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for official appointment. In the interim, we ask that should you have any questions regarding WIB membership, please don’t hesitate to contact the CSWD staff or any of the current board members. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Please call me if you have any questions. I can be reached at (831) 637-9293. Thank you.
