The Hollister Police Department is investigating a robbery at the Lucky Supermarket's pharmacy in Hollister, the fourth in a string of similar robberies recently.
On Friday, Feb. 3 at 9:50 a.m., the Hollister Police Department received a call regarding a robbery that just occurred at the Lucky Supermarket's pharmacy, 291 McCray St. According to an HPD news release, an unknown male walked up to the pharmacy counter, brandished a firearm and demanded pharmaceuticals. No one was injured and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of pills.
The string of similar pharmacy robberies dates back to Aug. 29, 2016, when the Rite-Aid Pharmacy, at 1701 Airline Hwy. was robbed. Then on Nov. 17, the ANSR Pharmacy, 581 McCray St. was robbed, and on Dec. 27, ANSR was hit again. In all the cases, the suspect demanded and left with large amounts of pain medication.
"The suspect or suspects in this case have walked into area pharmacies in broad daylight, brandished a shotgun or rifle, and fled with stolen medication," the police announcement said. "In each of the incidents, the suspect shielded his face from view with a motorcycle helmet, bandana or hooded sweatshirt. The suspect has yet to be identified or apprehended."
