Dozens of San Benito County employees represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) 521 rallied for a new contract without potential layoffs and job cutbacks in front of the County Administration Building on Fourth Street on Sept. 22.

The employees’ contract is due to expire on Sept. 30 as the county Board of Supervisors is conducting a series of budget workshops and hearings aimed at closing a multi-million-dollar budget deficit.
