As a nonprofit, BenitoLink provides community service news. We publish vital information daily while at the same time producing investigative reports that can take weeks of research and careful preparation. Having a team reporting on local government meetings, events, businesses, and the people in our community means we are covering the issues that matter to you. But it doesn’t take long for costs to add up and that is why your community support is so important to our local news operation.

Once again, we are excited to announce that we (and our community) have been selected for a $28,000 community matching opportunity from Institute for Nonprofit News’ annual NewsMatch, a national matching-gift campaign to grow fundraising capacity in nonprofit newsrooms that promotes donating to local nonprofit newsrooms like ours. The offer will be part of our Pledge of Champions Fundraiser which starts on Nov. 1, 2018. Newsrooms must satisfy INN ethical standards to be eligible for NewsMatch.

Without the support of INN’s NewsMatch, BenitoLink would not have the opportunity to double our donation dollars. INN is dedicated to supporting investigative reporting and now has over 150 members. As an INN member, BenitoLink is fortunate to have the tremendous professional and financial support INN provides.

The initial NewsMatch Fund was established with $1 million each from Democracy Fund, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The Miami Foundation is the fiscal sponsor.
