On the eve of the Hollister Independence Rally, a major local motorcycle business hosted a well-attended Bike Night on July 3 as a kind of precursor to the main event.
According to Hollister Powersports salesman Kenny Sabatte, about 50-100 people showed up for the event at the local motorcycle dealer’s lot. Sabatte said the first-ever night event featured hot dogs and drinks, along with vendors, for attendees.
Sabatte said Hollister Powersports will also hold Demo Days featuring test drives of the new 2025 Indian motorcycles during the motorcycle rally this weekend on July 4-6.
“This weekend we have the demo truck out from Indian corporate,” Sabatte said. “We have 30 Indians out here to test ride.”
He said test riders just need a driver’s license to come out and ride any Indian they want.
Sabatte said the local dealership is expected to be a popular gathering spot for custom motorcycle owners and fans this weekend.
“Everybody is going to be coming out with their custom bikes,” Sabbatte said. “Kind of showing off their custom bikes, kind of showing off their builds.”
Motorcycle fan Darlene Apodaca said she learned about the Bike Night event on Facebook and was happy she attended.
“It’s a fun time,” Apodaca said, noting how “unique” the bikes are. “Inside (the dealership), they have the history of the Indian Motorcycle; it’s so interesting.”
Sabatte added, “We are planning to have a bike night once a month, more to be announced on that.”
