Carmy’s Salon got a big welcome from the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce on May 20.

The chamber of commerce hosted a mixer at the downtown Hollister business, and co-owner Mark Moore said he and his wife, Carmelita “Carmy” Moore, were new to the chamber and were honored to host the event.

“We want to meet other businesses,” Mark said. “We want to get to know them and for them to meet us. This is a big opportunity for us, so we’re happy to have everybody come by.”

The salon opened on Nov. 28.

This was Carmelita’s first time participating in a Chamber event, either in Hollister or Milpitas, where she has owned a salon of the same name for the last 23 years..

“I want people to hear about my new business,” she said. “And I plan on opening another salon in Hollister for my daughter, Cermela Mejia, to run.”

Mark said Carmy’s offers a full-service beauty salon, and that the Moores also do weddings.

“We do all aspects of hair,” he said. “We do color, highlights, and anything fancy you could want us to do. We also do nails, manicures, pedicures and facial work.”

Cermelita said that Carmy’s currently offers its services by appointment only, but it is well-staffed and can accommodate several customers at a time.

“We usually have at least one and sometimes more employees here at all times,” Mark said. “But we want people to make appointments, so we’ll know they’re coming and we’ll be ready for them.“
