With the theme of “Who Let The Cows Out? Moo, Moo, Moo,” the 102nd San Benito County Fair is preparing to entertain people of all ages on Oct. 3–5 at Bolado Park.

From the Bucking Bash and Justin Lawrence and the Double Average Band on Friday’s opening day to the Junior Livestock Auction and The Outlaw Mariachi on Saturday, and the Tribute to Heroes and Truck & Tractor Pulls during Sunday’s capper, the County Fair is poised to offer plenty of fun for everyone, according to Fair CEO Dara Tobias.

“One thing that’s kind of exciting is we’ve added a lot of new entertainment this year,” Tobias said, noting the addition of the POWERHOUSE!!! Percussive Dance group and Ventriloquist Vikki along with several new musical performers, and the fair’s goal of adding 30-40% new entertainment every year. “We want people to come back every year, and if things are new then people want to come out and see them,” she said.

At the same time, Tobias said this year that POWERHOUSE!!! Director Brian Bon and his crew will be making special visits to local schools including Sacred Heart and homeschool groups and youth groups, including the YMCA, to promote the fair by showing kids a range of dance moves including tap, clogging, Irish step and explosive stomp in the runup to the fair this week.

“We’re passionate about kids and we know not everyone can come out to the fair,” Tobias said.

Other performers at this year’s fair include The Birdman, The Junebugs, the Kelly McDonald Duo, Hillia Hula Hoop Extraordinaire, Rebecca Fireplug and more.

As for this year’s fair theme, Tobias said “Who Let the Cows Out” is a “fun thing” intended to recognize the county’s agricultural legacy.

“We’re an agricultural community so we’re all about cows,” she said. “We want to celebrate that with an agricultural theme.”

Among the ag-related activities and displays will be Barnyard Buddies, Vegetable judging, Bronc and Bull Bash, and the Cowboy Church, among others, as well as the Exhibit Halls featuring baked goods, preserved foods, textiles, art, crafts and more.

As usual, the fair will feature many favorite sweet and savory treats, as well as carnival rides.

Also new this year, kids under 12 get free admission to the fair on Oct. 3.

The fair is open from noon to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5.Tickets are available at sanbenitocountyfair.com.
