Election forums scheduled for Oct. 6 and Oct. 13

With the general election a little more than two months away, it's time to learn about the candidates and measures and be prepared to vote

BenitoLink and the San Benito County Farm Bureau are looking forward to pairing up again for "Use Your Voice" political forums ahead of the November general election.

The forums will be held in the Hollister City Council chambers at 375 Fifth St. on consecutive Thursday evenings: Oct. 6 and Oct. 13.

The public is invited to listen to the candidates and learn about the measures in the upcoming election. BenitoLink and the Farm Bureau intend to provide an unbiased platform and give candidates equal time. No questions will be provided prior to the event.

The previous Use Your Voice Forums held in May were well-attended and the events will be similar in format. CMAP-TV will video the participants and video clips will be available on BenitoLink following the event. 

BenitoLink and the Chamber received a number of positive comments from people who attended the last BenitoLink/Farm Bureau Use Your Voice Forum, including:

 

  • "I really enjoyed hearing from the candidates and I left the forum pretty sure about how I wanted to vote."

  • "You definitely walked away knowing who was qualified and who wasn't." 

 

The Use Your Voice Forum is an excellent opportunity to hear directly from candidates in local political races and get a personal sense of who the candidates are and what the measures really mean to the future of our county.

BenitoLink and the San Benito County Farm Bureau will be providing opportunities for voter input and questions. Take part in the election process and really select your leaders by being informed.

Leslie David

Leslie David is a Bay Area independent reporter/producer and is a BenitoLink founding board member. She has produced for radio, television, newspaper and magazines in both California and Wyoming. She was with KRON-TV News in San Francisco as camera-woman, editor and field producer, where she won the Commonwealth Club's Thomas Storke Award with Linda Yee for their series on the Aids Epidemic. She started as a small market news reporter shooting her own 16mm film at KEYT-TV Santa Barbara. Leslie lives on a ranch with her family in San Benito County.
