The Los Angeles Times, in a recent article about the heated debate about the future of fracking in San Benito County, said local residents "find themselves on the sharp edge of a growing movement to ban hydraulic fracturing via local voter initiatives."
The story, which interviewed supporters and detractors of Measure J, said, "If you were plotting the epicenter of a daring trend or gathering the vanguard for a revolutionary charge, San Benito County might not be the first place you'd start." The Times called San Benito "a retro snapshot of turn-of-the-century rural California: agrarian, stoic, striving."
