A small plane operated by an inexperienced pilot made an emergency crash landing Sept. 10 after the pilot overshot the Frazier Lake Airpark landing strip.
The pilot and two passengers were not injured, San Benito County Commander Adam Lobdell told BenitoLink.
Lobdell said fire and law enforcement responded to the report at around 7:20 p.m. He said the pilot of the plane, who was “recently licensed,” and the other two passengers were not local residents.
Lobdell said the FAA was notified and is investigating the incident. He said as of Sept. 11 the owner has been unable to remove the plane because he has not gotten a hold of his insurance.
According to Flightware, the owner of the plane, Cheney Tracy, is from Texas.
The emergency landing comes fewer than two months after two planes collided at the Hollister Municipal Airport, where a pilot suffered a fractured leg.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, there have been 71 investigations, including the July 19 mid-air collision, into aviation accidents in the Hollister area since 1962.
