San Benito GIVES brings in $35,312 for local nonprofits

BenitoLink, Youth Alliance had the largest amount of donors; Pet Friends received the highest amount of donations

The 24-hour San Benito GIVES effort ended at midnight Tuesday with two nonprofits ending up in a tie, as the fundraiser brought in $35,312 for 24 San Benito County nonprofits serving a wide variety of needs. Youth Alliance and BenitoLink had the most unique donors, with each bringing in 57 unique donors.

Hollister Pregnancy Center had the third highest number of unique donors, with United Way and Chamberlain's Children Center just behind. Pet Friends Rescue brought in the highest amount in donations, at $4,875. The Community Foundation for San Benito County raised $3,615.

San Benito GIVES is an online fundraising platform established through Razoo. On the San Benito GIVES team page, community members could can learn about and select from the 24 nonprofits involved. Members received funds separately, through their own individual pages online.

BenitoLink plans to use donations to increase and deepen news coverage and help young adults develop employable work skills. Over the past year, BenitoLink has been successful in providing jobs and work experience to aspiring journalists.

The San Benito GIVES event helps keep dollars in the county and support nonprofits that make it an even better place to live. The fundraiser boosts the level of awareness of the many nonprofits in the county and gets new people involved in improving the quality of life.

BenitoLink, San Benito County’s nonprofit, online news source and Mission Village Voice, a monthly newspaper published in San Juan Bautista, partnered on San Benito GIVES with the Community Foundation for San Benito County. We share a common interest in seeing residents achieve the highest quality of life possible for families and children in the community.
