The annual San Benito High School Homecoming Parade will take place on Thursday, Oct. 6 in downtown Hollister, rather than Friday, as has been typical in recent years.
The parade will take place between 2 and 3 p.m., starting at the high school and working its way northward on San Benito Street before turning left on Fifth Street and left again on Monterey to return to campus.
Catalina Lemos, the SBHS activities director, said she wanted to get the word out about the parade day to make sure that elementary and junior high school students and their families know they are invited, since that is an early-release day for them. Four local schools — in addition to the high school — will be take part in the parade, in which school clubs, organizations and sports teams will participate.
The high school's ASB (Associated Student Body) leadership group is sponsoring themed dress-up days for students this week, with lunchtime activities in the Quad each day. The school will hold a rally on Friday ahead of that night's football game, which will feature the crowing of the Homecoming queen at halftime. The king will be crowned at Saturday's Homecoming Dance.
