South county resident Debbie Cardoza sent us a beautiful shot of the San Benito River flowing near her home this week. Debbie’s comment was, “Looks like the headgate is open and San Benito River is flowing again!”
This is a fabulous time of year in this part of our county and stunning to see in person. This photo was taken in the general area of the old town of San Benito and the San Benito Lateral.
The San Benito River water can get high and unsafe to cross during the winter months and early spring months. Although the CalTrans website does not mention the detour on its Road Information page, there is currently a detour on Highway 25 south of the entrance to the Pinnacles National Park entrance.
