Hollister Police are sought the assistance of the public to identify the driver of a hit-and-run collision that happened on San Benito Street. Hours after the announcement went out, police had identified a suspect.
On Nov. 10 at around 2 p.m., police say a vehicle left the area of 625 San Benito St. after colliding with a parked vehicle.
The parked vehicle sustained front end damage and the suspect vehicle possibly sustained minor damage to the rear bumper. Police say the suspect drove away from the scene without any attempt to contact the owner of the damaged vehicle. The impact was caught on video by city surveillance cameras but the license plate is not legible.
A witness at the scene described the driver of the vehicle as a white male, in his 50’s, heavyset with a beard. The driver was accompanied by an adult female.
The vehicle was a newer model red GMC Yukon. The vehicle was described as having an American flag decal on the side and rear windows. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle has a front American flag bug guard.
