UPDATED: Police make arrest in shooting outside Johnny’s

Police have arrested 46-year-old Hollister resident Paul Casarez as the primary suspect in a shooting that took place in the early morning of Valentine's Day outside of Johnny's Bar and Grill at 526 San Benito St. in downtown Hollister.

Casarez was booked into the San Benito County Jail and held on the charge of assault with a deadly weapon on a person by using a firearm, according to the Hollister Police Department.

Multiple gunshots fired during an altercation southeast of the bar, police had previously indicated.

The altercation, as police dubbed it in a press release, took place "between four people and at least one patron." One bystander was struck by one of "multiple gunshots" fired," police said.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
