As a public service, the BenitoLink team provides a frequent roundup of recent COVID-19 related data, resources and articles about San Benito County.

As of 3:11 p.m. on Feb. 11, 12,590 people in San Benito County have tested positive for the coronavirus since the first confirmed case in February 2020. One hundred fifty-six are active patients, 12,342 have recovered, five are hospitalized and 92 have died, with the latest death reported Feb. 10. On Feb. 9 Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the following bills into law.

  • SB 114 giving employees access to COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave through Sept. 30, 2022
  • SB 113 provides $6.1 billion in tax credits, grants and other relief for small businesses, including nearly $500 million in tax cuts for restaurants and shuttered venues and $5.5 billion in restored. See more here.

Tips for avoiding COVID-19     

               

  • Get vaccinated and boosted.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
  • Keep a minimum of six feet physical distance from others.
  • Avoid people who are sick.
  • Avoid public indoor places.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with protective covering when indoors with the public.
  • Disinfect frequently touched objects.
