Week of July 30 coronavirus roundup for San Benito County

6,282 people tested positive, 60 are active patients, 6,159 have recovered and 63 have died; the county's 7-day positive rate is 5.0%.

As of 2:11 p.m. on July 30, 6,282 people in San Benito County have tested positive for the coronavirus since the first confirmed case in February 2020. Sixty are active patients, 6,159 have recovered, one is hospitalized and 63 have died, with the latest deaths reported April 14. Health

On July 27, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that fully vaccinated people wear masks indoors.

“To maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly spreading it to others, wear a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission.”

On July 26, Gov. Newsom announced that all state employees and health care workers need to be vaccinated or have a COVID test at least once a week. He encouraged local governments to do the same.

Tips for avoiding COVID-19         

  • Get vaccinated
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
