We’re at 29,410!  BenitoLink is in the final two weeks of our annual Pledge of Champions campaign and we have many of you to thank already for your great support.
The truth is, if we want high quality reporting and a wide variety of stories, we as a community will have to support it. Producing professional news by top journalists costs money, so if we want it, we have to all pitch in and make it happen.Â
Dec.. 22, BenitoLink donors have brought in $29,410, getting very close to the $30,000 marker, as we go in to the final days of 2017. It is essential that we take advantage of the full $38,000 match from NewsMatch and the Community Foundation for San Benito County, so we can double our money. NewsMatch is a national campaign managed by INN (Institute for Nonprofit News).
Here are the champions of high quality local news and investigative reporting for this year’s Pledge of Champions. Thank you for supporting BenitoLink!
BenitoLink has several local major donors who feel that you can’t have a healthy, vibrant community if citizens aren’t well-informed. BenitoLink does not take editorial positions and attempts to stay out of the debate and just present the information. As an INN member, we agree to adhere to strict editorial guidelines and terms of use.Â
Without the support of INN‘s NewsMatch and the Community Foundation for San Benito County, BenitoLink would not have the opportunity to double our donation numbers. INN, or Institute for Nonprofit News is dedicated to supporting investigative reporting and has 100 members. As an INN member, BenitoLink is fortunate to have the tremendous professional and financial support INN provides. INN shares best practices, collaborates on stories, pools resources and receives cutting-edge training in professional, organizational and business development. San Benito County’s BenitoLink is one of a select group of online news sites getting this support and we can’t walk away from the full $38,000 that is being offered as a match. Â
NewsMatch is dedicated to strong, local journalism and the Community Foundation is dedicated to an informed and engaged community. The initial NewsMatch Fund was established with $1 million each from Democracy Fund, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The Miami Foundation is the fiscal sponsor. INN, which manages NewsMatch, has a mission to provide education and business support services and promote the value in public-service and investigative journalism.Â
