There is a lot in our area for visitors to enjoy, and a lot of potential for jobs, businesses and careers to grow while serving the needs of the region's guests. Could this be your future? A series of classes on hospitality and tourism offered by Gavilan College can help you find out.
The first class, Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism/Ambassador will be held on Monday evenings from Aug. 7 to 27.  In this noncredit and free class, students will learn about some of the basics of the field and regional tourism and hospitality options. The class will be held at Ridgemark Tennis Center in San Benito County and Mama Mia’s in Morgan Hill.  For more information and to sign up call (408) 852-2824.   
In the Fall, the first credit class in the series will be offered. Starting Aug. 28, HTM 101, Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism Management, will meet Tuesday evenings on the Gilroy campus. HTM 101 will provide an introduction to the careers in the field of hospitality and tourism management, including a survey of trends and developments in the industry. An overview of hospitality, tourism, lodging operations, food service establishments and management will give students a broad view of the regional hospitality landscape.
